Josh Adams


Joshua Adams joined the firm as a partner in 2014.  He has represented private and public sector labor unions at all levels of governance, from local to international, across a wide variety of industries.  Mr. Adams specializes in litigation and appellate practice, in addition to providing all of the ongoing grievance-handling and consultation that modern labor unions require.

In the private sector, he has represented unions before the National Labor Relations Board, including during elections and organizing campaigns, prosecution of interference and retaliation charges, and other unfair practice litigation and defense of unions.

In the public sector, he has represented unions on similarly diverse issues before the California Public Employment Relations Board, City of Los Angeles Employee Relations Board, County of Los Angeles Employee Relations Commission, and before a wide range of local administrative agencies such as municipal and school district Personnel and Civil Service Commissions, and school district Commissions on Professional Competence. 

Mr. Adams has handled numerous arbitrations for public and private sector labor unions, litigating complex contract interpretation issues affecting the entire bargaining unit as well as discipline and discharge of individual employees.  He also has served in the various roles required by unions during bargaining, including acting as chief negotiator for a successor agreement and during employee layoffs and worksite closures.

Mr. Adams graduated with Honors from Oberlin College and graduated Order of the Coif and Cum Laude from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles.  In law school, he was an Articles Editor for the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review, and received numerous awards and scholarships for public service and academic performance.  After graduation, he served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Dean D. Pregerson on the United States District Court for the Central District of California.

Mr. Adams is fluent in Spanish and regularly advises labor unions with members who are monolingual Spanish speakers.
